The Most Versatile Piece of Fitness Equipment Ever
Stability balls allow you to do hundreds (thousands?) of exercises that emphasize core strength and stability. I use them with every one of my clients - from the least experienced exerciser to the elite athlete, and it's the one piece of equipment I personally couldn't do without.
They alse make great desk chairs - I am sitting on one as I type this!
N.B. Be careful if you have toddlers in the house - the "running dive to head bonk" exercise is a big temptation!

Need Help Getting and Staying Motivated to Eat Right & Exercise?
Hypnosis isn't magic; you still need to change your diet and add exercise, but using these CD's makes it much easier to stay motivated and enthusiastic about a healthy lifestyle. I have used these personally, and found they completely took the stuggle out of eating healthfully for me.
Great in combination with the Weight Watcher's Progam or BalanceLog Software.
Wendi.com offers a variety of other self-hypnosis programs for issues from improving self-confidence to eliminating procrastination.

From Try-athlete to Triathlete: Mary's Story
|
 |
| Before - "there's no way I'm getting on that bike!" |
|
| When I first met Mary, she weighed close to 250 lbs and was nervous about trying any exercise except water aerobics. She had been overweight most of her life and never considered herself athletic - she thought I was joking when I first suggested training for a sprint triathlon.
|
Mary completed the Hyannis Sprint Triathlon after 6 months of training. She lost weight along the way, but more importantly, she gained a new respect for herself: "I may not be at my perfect weight yet, but I am a triathlete --and no one can ever take that away from me!"

| Team BAD at the Race for the Cure |
|
Team BAD (Boston Area Divas) started when I challenged a group of women I met through Weight Watchers to train for a 5K last spring. Since May, the group has grown and we've run in a number of area races - most recently the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, in which we raised over $6000 toward Breast Cancer Research!

| What Clients Are Saying... |
"Pilates has taught me fundamental and important things about posture and core muscle usage; after a couple of months, I can already sense a big difference in how I feel and in how I "carry" myself. It has improved my strength, balance and body awareness; and as I improve on those sorts of things, I also feel more capable and confident." Roberta, 55
"Working on core strength has improved my snowboarding much more than I ever expected!" Adam, 28
|
"Last year, my doctor told me I had lost almost an inch in height - but after only 3 months of working on my posture with Helen, my lastest physical showed that I was back to my tallest height of 5'11"! Now that I am standing straighter, people keep telling me I look ten years younger. Phillip, 56
|
"Helen created a training plan that took me from never completing a triathlon to being ready physically and mentally for every aspect of the race. From working on the endurance to complete the race, to what equipment I needed, to what I should eat and drink, she prepared me for every component of the race." Brendan, 27
"Pilates helped me strengthen my core and completely transformed my posture!" Lisa, 33

Even Trainers Can Get Sidetracked...
Staying in shape requires a balance of healthy eating and regular exercise. My "before" pictures show what a winter of too much beer & junk food and too little exercise can do.
I had to let go of my "all or nothing" attitude about exercise and learn to work around my injury. Even more importantly, I had to take a long, hard look at the crap I was putting into my body and resolve to change my eating habits for good.
