From Try-athlete to Triathlete - Mary's story

When I first met Mary, she weighed close to 250 lbs and was nervous about trying any exercise except water aerobics.  She had been overweight most of her life and never considered herself athletic - she thought I was joking when I first suggested training for a sprint triathlon.

Mary completed the Hyannis Sprint Triathlon after 6 months of training.  She lost weight along the way, but more importantly, she gained a new respect for herself:  "I may not be at my perfect weight yet, but I am a triathlete --and no one can ever take that away from me!"

Before - "there's no way I'm getting on that bike!"
